Let's face it, out of all the music festivals out there, Coachella has, BY
FAR, the sexiest crowd. After all, this is California, where image is
everything. Girls and boys alike dress to impress. And while the crowd isn't
quite as "open" as they are at other famous festivals (Woodstock '69, for
example)... there is still a bit of that free spirited, "anything can happen"
vibe
floating in the air around the polo fields.
If you're single, and hoping to meet Mr. or Ms. Right (or just Mr. or Ms.
Right Now) you can definitely use the Coachella atmosphere to your advantage!
The surrounding desert landscape... with its mountains, rows of palm trees,
and dramatic sunset; combined with the multi-colored light shows exploding
from the stages; create the perfect backdrop for a romantic encounter. All
around you, musically literate hotties are opening up emotionally to let their
favorite musicians touch their soul. Play your cards right, and you could be
doing some touching as well...

STEP 1: FIND A SOLO ACT. No, I'm not talking about Bright
Eyes or Imogen Heap. Keep your eyes open for a guy/girl that you find
attractive and doesn't appear to be with a significant other. If you spot
someone watching one of your favorite artists, boom, you already have
something in common! Move on to step 2.
-
STEP 2: MAKE A CONNECTION. Don't be afraid to talk to
him/her, but don't force anything. Wait until a song is over, then turn
and say something like, 'Wow! aren't these guys amazing?' Talk about how
passionate you are about the music. Chances are, they're passionate about
music, too (you're both at Coachella, aren't you?) and for most people,
passion = sexy.
-
STEP 3: TEAM UP. Ask your new friend who they're going to
see next, and whatever they say, tell them 'Oh yeah, that's who I was
planning to see too! Wanna go stake out a good spot together?" If they're
not sure, make a suggestion. Let your excitement show. Excitement is
contagious.
-
STEP 4: DANCE FEVER. Nothing loosens up inhibitions and
makes the transition from "friendly" to "sexy" like dancing. Especially in
the Sahara Tent after the sun goes down. Even if you're not much of a
dancer, go for it... just try to copy what people around you are doing.
Get lost in the music together. And if you're both feeling it, go in for
the kiss. In the real world, it's probably a little too forward. But this
isn't the real world... this is Coachella!
-
STEP 5: AFTER PARTY! If things are going well, don't let
the night end at midnight when the headliner's set is over. Coachella is
famous for after-parties. Almost all the hipster music magazines (Filter,
URB, SPIN, BPM, etc) have after-parties at Coachella. There's also several
mansion parties. Ask around enough, and you can get the low-down on some
happenin shindig that you and your new partner-in-crime can crash
together.
