Greek Theatre is LA's Hot Spot

Largest Fire in 30 years moves Concerts

If you live in LA, then you know that there was a fire at Griffith Park. Every channel covered it. The fire was getting so much coverage that they canceled Gilmore Girls, and almost South Park!

But the in the back drop of this fire was the Greek Theatre. It almost burned down. As a concert fan, a concertgoer, this would would have been a travesty. The Greek is so important to the music scene. Luckily, it was saved. But the effects of the fire still are felt at the Greek.

The Greek Theatre's parking lot served as a command center for the Los Angeles County Fire Department during the blaze that, at press time, had consumed more than 800 acres of the country's largest urban park.

Concerts moved to Gibson

Nederlander Concerts CEO Adam Friedman confirmed that "so far we are OK." Three shows were scheduled at the Greek in the days following the fire's eruption: Loreena McKennitt, Keane, and Modest Mouse. Nederlander Concerts manages the venue. The May 10th Loreena McKennitt concert was moved to the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk, and a spokeswoman for the Greek Theatre said the status of the Keane and Modest Mouse shows would be "day-to-day" until conditions stabilize.

Hope and Prayer

Everybody at Concert Goer prays everything works out, and that shows go on just as planned once everything is better. Personally, I think its great that the Greek has been so helpful to the firefighters. God Bless them!
