It is not usual to see the multi-instrumentalist musician and entertainer Andrew WK tour in Europe. This is caused by the fact that his popularity in the old continent is almost underground. And this is quite striking since in the USA he is a very well known celebrity even for people who are not interested in rock music.
If you add an attitude towards the party that verges on the religious devotion to a person that can not stop moving any second and dominates all the main rock music instruments (guitar, bass, drums and keyboards), the music result won´t leave anyone indifferent. And that is what the less than one hundred people that met in Festsaal Kreuzberg the Sunday of the 22th of April could check.
The purpose of his coming back to Europe was the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the release of his first album “I Get Wet”, and, could not be any other way, songs included in it composed the biggest part of the setlist. The opening with “It´s Time To Party” was obvious, and classics like “Party Hard”, “She Is Beautiful”, “We Want Fun”, “Never Let You Down”, “Party Till You Puke”, “Long Live The Party” or a re-named “I Love Berlin-Germany” followed it.
The rest of the band, beginning with the tight latex dressed Cherie Lily in the backing vocals and following with the three guitarists combo, played perfectly the role of party animals while they were insufflating in the public the enthusiasm to go wild and bang the heads and bodies during almost two hours without stop.
To sum up, watching a concert like this is the best way to finish a week with much more energy than the one you had when you started it.
