Where to start... my friend and I drove down to Fargo from Fort Frances, Ontario. On our way into the city we saw their tour buses and decided to follow them and see what happened. Unfortunately, they parked underground at the Fargodome and we were turned around. We parked my car and went inside - the doors were open and we just walked right in. The people were setting up the merch tables and we could hear someone in soundcheck. I thought for sure we were going to get the boot. We took a look at the merchandise and then went into the arena to see Magni singing on stage. We watched for a while and then wandered around, eventually Supernova came on and did Bittersweet Symphony and Can't Bring Myself to Light This Fuse. It wasn't until that song had ended that security finally came over to us (after being there for 1.5 hours and countless dome staff/security saying hello to us). We were escorted out, went back to the hotel and got ready for the concert. I have emailed Toby since October and had the opportunity to speak on the phone with him at a concert in December, needless to say, I love Juke Kartel's music and was more excited to see them, than I was Dilana and Magni and Panic Channel. My friend and I had front row seats, we made our way there and started talking to the security guard who was positioned directly in front of our seats. I happened to look over to the side of the stage and saw Toby standing there. I politely excused myself from the conversation with security and made my way over to where he was standing - on my side of the barricade of course. I hollered over to him and as he turned around I showed him my sign, which was a quote of his from the phone conversation we had had in December. He shouted "Hey Lisa! (he knew my name!!) You made it!" and was starting to walk over to me when out of nowhere ever girl in the first 4 rows was behind me screaming at him. He said to me, "I'll come and say hi later, okay?" and I told him that was cool. He then proceeded to moon everyone LOL What a guy! I asked Tommy if they were on first and he gave me a big grin and thumbs up. I made my way back to my spot just in time for them to run onto the stage. As soon as they were there I was up and didn't sit down the rest of the night. They sounded amazing! It's a blur to me what songs they even did that night... I know they did Throw it Away and December and I'm pretty sure they did Rebel Yell also. It's like it was a dream even though it was 3 weeks ago. During the first song, Toby spotted me, came over to the edge of the stage, made a camera gesture and reached out for my camera. There were other people who were closer... whose cameras he could have easily grabbed, but he wanted mine. I couldn't believe it. I had to actually move over and stretch as far as I could to hand it to him (I'm short LOL) and he took a picture of me and my friend and one of Eddie, he took one of the crowd - which unfortunately didn't turn out, I think I got the stage floor instead. He handed my camera to the security guard and motioned for him to give it back to me. HOW EXCITING! I thought, wow, maybe that's what he meant by saying hi later... that was until during the next song he went over to the far side of the stage right in front of us jumped off, still singing, drank some girls beer and then hopped up on the barricade right in front of me. He sang to me and I got the greatest picture of him looking into my camera. He smiled at me, jumped down and hopped back on stage - not missing a note. They played the last few songs of their set and when it was over, I was sad that their set hadn't been longer. 20 minutes goes by way too fast. They had the place going wild, I don't know how many people there were JK fans, but I sure knew every word to every song they sang, and loved that I was able to sing along with them. I looked around at one point right after they got on stage, and everyone - even the people in the stands- were standing (That's saying a lot, because as much as I love Lukas, the people in the stands sat through Supernova). I want for Juke Kartel to come to Winnipeg (or back to Fargo) this summer, you can bet that I will be there (hopefully in the front) singing along and rocking out with the guys! If you haven't had a chance to check them out... you won't be disappointed.
